After my music magazine research I decided on what kind of magazine I wanted to do and who my target audience would be. It took me quite a while to think about who I would like to aim my magazine at because I needed it to fit in with a certain popular stereotype so that I could base my designs and ideas on a particular style.
I thought of quite a few working titles which were Vibe and Baseline but when I figured out my target audience I wanted a unique and smart title which is when I decided on "Versatile".
The demographic status of my target audience:
Gender: Male but the magazine will be approachable to women.
Age: 16 - 20 years old
Marital status: Single / In a relationship but not married as the magazine is aimed at the younger audience.
Region: Near cities
Social Status: C1,C2,B - Mainly students.
The psychographic status of my target audience:
Music they listen to : Indie
Subcultural Alliance: Indie Kids, Emos, Scene Kids.
My target audience consumption habits:
Music Festival Tickets / Gig Tickets
Ipod's
Downloading music
Clothes / Shoes
They Wear:
Skinny Jeans
Shirts - Mainly Checkered
Cardigans
Polo Shirts
Plimsolls
High-Top Trainers / Converse
Hair Style: Short/Medium length, Layered, Side fringes.
My ideal price for my music magazine would be £2.00 and the release will be monthly this is because my target audience is students and they will not pay £2.00 a week for a music magazine. The price of £2.00 on monthly magazine sale will be more appealing making the demand higher and even with the cheap magazine price it will generate enough circulation income with people sharing magazines with friends.
The content of my magazine will mainly be new band exclusives, unsigned acts, reviews of gigs and new music, gig listings and artist interviews.
The style of my magazine will be quite an upmarket style. I would like to have quite a bright colour scheme on black E.g. Pink on black. I would like to make the magazine look anti-commercial but still leave it looking quite smart to draw attention. I would also like professional photo's of bands because unprofessional photo's will make the magazine sales decrease.
The unique selling point of my magazine is that it will be a magazine made and aimed at one stereotypical group but it will also be approachable by other stereotypical groups of people wanting to see the latest band exclusives, interviews and unsigned acts.
